April-Take Back Your Time

Dear Design Your Best Life Family,
Welcome to April! It’s finally Spring and I cannot be more excited! I am starting to
see leaves on tress, the grass is turning green and flowers are blooming. Growth
is happening all around us and spring is the perfect time to take action for the new
growth in your life. Along with Spring comes new priorities, new plans and new
changes. So how do we fit in our new plans and changes into our lives? We only
have so much time-are you using your time the best way you can?
Time is similar to energy in that it is limited. You get only 24 hours a day, 7 days a
week, 365 days a year. Once you have used a moment, it is gone forever. The
process of using your time effectively becomes possible when you begin to view it
as a commodity that you have the choice to spend—or invest. When you invest,
you essentially invest your resources in something you believe will give you a
positive return on that investment. Most people understand the use of investments
as they relate to money and financial areas. But you also invest your money in the
activities or possessions you think will give you security, satisfaction, or pleasure.
It’s the same way for time, only you can’t make more time. All you have is all you
have. What to invest your time in is really the most important decision you can
make.
When you invest your time that supports your priorities you are no longer
experiencing those energy drains. In fact, you will actually find that you have more
time and are able to get are firm controlled grip on your life.
The first step to time management is to determine where all your time is going?
List out the things you did last week and the things you are doing this week? Next,
list out your personal priorities. What are the things in life that are most important
to you? Spend a few moments and write down 3-5 personal and professional
priorities. For this exercise, don’t think too hard about it. The first thing that pops
into your mind is usually the one to go with.
Above are a few exercises that can help manage your time. However, to explore
