Dear Design Your Best Life Family,
It’s May! Which means warm weather is here (for the most part :-) ), kids will be
out of school soon and we are making summer vacation plans. I love this time of
year and getting excited thinking about the upcoming summer months. Although
this time of year is usually a fun time I do find myself at times drained of energy on
all four levels: physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually. With all the to-do’s
that need to get done, organizing of schedules and juggling kids and work it is not
always easy. However, as I pay attention to what drains my energy and take the
necessary steps to eliminate these drainers I have more energy which allows me
to live my life according to who I am (my spiritual energy is renewed!).


Below is my latest blog post regarding energy deficits and in particular our
spiritual energy. Some tips on how to restore our spiritual energy is also listed
below.

Spirtual Energy
 

When thinking about your energy deficits what really drains your energy? Is it the
never ending to-do’s or the clutter in your personal or work environment? Is it the
lack of exercise or poor diet? Is your energy drained because you are not
spiritually aligned?

There are four major factors of vitality: physical, emotional, mental and spiritual.
Although all four sources are fundamental the most significant is spiritual. When
our actions are not aligned with our soul’s purpose our life is out of balance
leaving us feeling depleted. If we are connected with our spiritual energy it flows
and replenishes the other three factors of vitality.

So how do we restore our spiritual energy so it aligns with our actions,
motivations and ambitions allowing us to feel more alive and connected to the
universe? Below are a few tips to help us get more in touch with our spiritual
energy.

• Meditate. Meditation is one of the best ways to help tap into our inner knowledge
and lead us on the right path. Meditating allows us to get clear on what we want
and focus on the important aspects of our lives. When our mind is clear answers
come easy helping us understand some of the most difficult questions. Some
questions that may be helpful to reflect on to help get more spiritually aligned are:

Where do you want to make a difference in your life?
What do you value most?
Where do you usually get stuck or feel blocked?
What can you do to get more balance in your life?

• Love yourself. Find time to sit down in a quiet place to reflect on how great you
are! Think about all the wonderful things you have done or accomplishments and
write it down. Times where you made a positive difference in someone’s life or
just did something little that was helpful to someone else. Think about where you
are today and write about your journey-how did you get to where you are today. Be
sure to write it down and revisit every once in a while. We all need to be reminded
of how wonderful each and everyone one of us is!

Cut out distractions-it is so easy for us to get caught up listening to the T.V, radio,
internet, emails and even negative conversations with others. The messages
conveyed from these types of media tend to be more harmful than helpful
resulting in negative messages that may lead to stress. Learn to shut the T.V. off,
listen to soothing music while in the car or at home, put a limit on how many times
you check your email, facebook or twitter accounts and learn to steer clear away
from those people sending out unconstructive messages.

• Replace negative thoughts with positive thoughts. Think of constructive thoughts
that can replace negative thoughts. Keep in mind when you look at your situation it
may not be as bad as you thought or you may not be to blame. You can say things
like: “At least I did something”, “nobody’s perfect”, “what happened is not entirely
my fault” and “Every cloud has a silver lining.”

• Gratitude. Being thankful for all that you have in your life at this present moment
and for all that is yet to come is quite powerful. The power of gratitude is an
extremely high energy of positive vibrations. It brings your mind into closer
harmony with creative positive energies of the universe. So be grateful and be
happy!

Although our energy feels more like wavelike movements and will fluctuate
throughout different periods of our live it is vital to be fully engaged and enjoy what
we are doing at the present moment. The key is balancing all four factors of vitality
so that we have ample energy supply on tap!
